Ukraine had not changed the prime minister since the beginning of the Russian invasion at the end of February 2022, but Volodymyr Zelensky intends to remedy it. “We have discussed the concrete measures aimed at stimulating the economic potential of Ukraine, extending the support programs to the Ukrainians and increasing our national weapons production,” Volodymyr Zelensky wrote in X.
“In the search for this objective, we began a transformation of the Executive Power in Ukraine,” he said, adding that he had proposed to Iulia Svyrydenko to lead the government and “considerably renew its operation.”

The agreement had been at the center of a discussion in the White House between Volodymyr Zelensky and the president of the United States, Donald Trump, in front of the cameras of many media and under the eyes of stunned journalists.

But shortly after, Iulia Svydenko went to Washington to conclude the agreement, seen in Ukraine as a way of appeasing the US president and guaranteeing the continuous support of the United States.

At the time of formalization of the economic agreement, the United States had maintained doubts about the counterparts, in particular the security guarantees requested by Ukraine.
The current Ukrainian prime minister, Denys Chmyhal, held his position since March 2020, which made him the head of government that has served more time since the independence of the Moscow country in 1991, after the collapse of the Soviet Union.
