The Kremlin announced on Tuesday, July 15, ready to negotiate with Ukraine while saying that it needs time to comply with Donald Trump’s “serious” statements.
“President Trump’s statements are very serious,” said Kremlin spokesman Dmitri Peskov, to journalists. “Of course, we need time to analyze what has been said in Washington and yes, or when, President Putin considers it necessary, he will comment.”
This Monday, the US president threatened to establish “very severe” customs duties up to 100% in Russia if the latter does not reach an agreement to end his offensive in Ukraine, launched in 2022, “within 50 days.”
Dmitri Peskov said that Russia expects “proposals for the Ukrainian party” with respect to a third round of negotiations, after two not very fruitful sessions in Istanbul. “We are ready,” he said during his daily informative session, in which AFP participated.
Contradictory signals according to Russia
Donald Trump also said that military teams paid by NATO European members are sent to Ukraine.
“It seems that this decision made in Washington, in NATO countries and directly in Brussels, will be perceived by kyiv not as a sign in favor of peace, but as a sign to continue war,” Dmitri Peskov criticized.
The American ads were received by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, who said he was “recognizing” towards his American counterpart “for his desire to support the protection of” Ukrainian lives. “
In an exclusive telephone interview with the BBC this Tuesday, July 15, Donald Trump also said he was “disappointed” by Vladimir Putin, while he said “not having finished with him.”
