Interior Minister Bruno Retailleau attacked this Friday, July 18, the Algerian authorities this Friday, July 18, accusing them in particular of the delivery of passports to the “illegal immigrants”, and affirmed their intention to hinder the circulation of “members of the nomenclature” responsible for “shoot France.”
“The Algerian Consulate of Toulouse issued hundreds of passports to illegal immigrants,” accuses the French minister in an interview with Le Figaro, specifying that he was going to instructions the prefects “not to recognize these documents, distributed in these conditions,” for the issuance of residence permits.
Bruno Retailleau “very favorable for the launch of the 1968 agreements”
Emphasizing the importance of “reciprocity” in the bilateral relationship, he believes that “today, it is Algeria that rejects this reciprocity by not respecting the 1994 agreement” dedicated in particular to the resumption of expelled nationals.
“I will also ask my services to prepare several measures to avoid the arrival, establishment or traffic in France of the members of the nomenclature involved in the denigration of France,” said the minister.
Saying “very favorable to the launch of the 1968 agreements” on immigration, which confer special status to the Algerians, Bruno Retailleau judges that “if they are not reported before the end of this term of five years, it will have to be done after the next presidential election.”
However, there is “an urgent measure” according to him: “block the current negotiation on the association agreement” with the European Union because “Algeria wins much more than Europe, with preferential customs prices.”
When asked about a possible resignation linked to the Algerian archive, Bruno Retailleau says that “this is what Algerian power seeks to obtain” and “a victory would be for them.”
“In the Algerian issue, there is the future of our two compatriots” imprisoned in Algeria, the writer Boalem Sansal and the journalist Christopheges Gleiza, he says, believing that “the diplomacy of good feelings has failed.”
“I will tell the President of the Republic, which I must see next week. You have to change my tone, to assume a balance of power that chose Algerian power,” he said.
“By favoring the diplomatic strategy, dear to the Elysée and in Quai d’Orsay, Emmanuel Macron condemned France to impotence in its relationship with Algeria?” He asks the Interior Minister, who asks “to return to firmness” and “to re -fuss in the defense of our interests.”
In more general immigration terms, the minister indicates that “he proposed to Prime Minister an increase of 160 million euros in timbre rights in the field of asylum and immigration.”
