The US Republican Party pledged this Thursday to use the future majority in the House of Representatives of Congress to investigate President Joe Biden, whom they accuse of protecting the family when dealing with the country’s enemies.
Future Congressional Oversight Committee leader James Comer echoed that his party has evidence that Biden lied in 2019 when he said he knew nothing about his relatives’ activities, reason why it was included in the requested studies.
The Republican members of that committee sent letters this Thursday to, among others, the Treasury Department, the National Archives and the FBI’s information office, asking for the documentation they have on the Biden family.
In the letter to Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen, Republicans denounced the administration’s refusal to provide information requested in the past. while Biden uses the influence of his office not only to benefit his relatives from the president’s proximity, but also to protect them from scrutiny of his financial affairs.
To Republicans, the fact that the Treasury Department has not provided a full list of all Russian citizens sanctioned by the United States over its invasion of Ukraine also suggests it may be protecting people associated with the Biden family.
In the letter to the National Archives, Republicans also admit that Biden may be making decisions in favor of his family’s financial interests and, among other things, ask for all documents between the president’s office and members or associates of his family related to with Russia and Ukraine, in the period between 2009 and 2017.
For Republicans, Biden’s knowledge of and involvement in these deals left him vulnerable to blackmail or extortion by foreign entities, including the Chinese Communist Party, exposing the country “to national risks that could be exploited by its enemies.”
Republicans further believe that Biden misled American voters during his 2020 presidential campaign and that he continues to do so when he claims he was unaware of these dealings.
Among the evidence they’re based on, they cite the computer allegedly belonging to the current president’s second son, Hunter Biden, that was forgotten in a Delaware computer repair center, containing private information about his life and business.
The hard drive of that computer is said to contain evidence that Hunter abused his father’s influence for ten years to get rich.
Republicans also vow to use their majority in the House of Representatives starting in January to investigate the “politicization” of the FBI or the reasons that led to the searches of former President Donald Trump’s mansion. in August.
