Polish President Andrzej Duda this Thursday visited the site next to the border between Poland and Ukraine that was hit by a rocket that killed two people on Tuesday, confirming it was an “accident”.
In the small town of Przewodów, Duda stated that he had contacted his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky and admitted that there were “great emotions” after the situation caused by the fall of the rocket. “In our opinion, the rocket explosion was the result of an accident, this fact cannot be considered as an attack on Poland,” Duda said for the average Poland.
Based on the thesis based on the preliminary results of the investigation, the Polish head of state explained that “Russia fired hundreds of missiles, Ukraine defended itself, and as a result, an incident occurred in Przewodów”.
“In a sense, this is a common tragedy,” noted the Polish leader, agreeing with Ukraine’s participation in the investigation of the case, despite specifying that “the participation of representatives of Ukraine (….) shall be in accordance with applicable international law”🇧🇷
After the impact of the anti-aircraft missile on the Polish population, the Ukrainian president reiterated that the projectile had been launched by Russia, but later investigations indicate that it could have been a missile fired by Ukrainian forces and that it deviated from its route.
Polish Prime Minister, Mateusz Morawiecki, as well as Duda, appeared before the Wednesday average to confirm that the most plausible theory points to Ukrainian authorship, despite the fact that “ultimate responsibility rests with Russia”, for starting the war.
For his part, Jakub Kumoch, responsible for international policy in the presidential office, said this Wednesday that “there is video footage” that supports the theory that the missile was fired by Ukraine and stressed that “There are Polish and American experts” involved in the investigation and “able to calculate the direction the rocket came from and even the amount of fuel it used.”
The funeral of the two victims is scheduled for Saturday.
