The relatives of the victims of the deadliest plane crash occurred on the southern Korean floor denounced a government report that attributes the disaster to a pilot error, a family representative of the France press agency said on Tuesday, July 22.
South Korea experienced the worst aerial catastrophe in its history in its land on December 29 when a Boeing 737 of the Jeju airline, which comes from Thailand, landed in the belly at the Muan airport (southwest) before breaking against a wall at the end of the track and causing fire. Only a host and a butler have survived.
The potentially responsible pilot?
The Ministry of Territory, Infrastructure and Transportation of South Korea told AFP that it had planned to publish the partial conclusions of the accident survey this weekend. However, he canceled an information meeting and chose to retain the report after families opposed, saying he could fool.
In fact, the report indicates that a collision with a bird damaged the right engine of the plane, but that the pilot has cut the left engine by mistake, told AFP Kim Youngo-Mi, which represents families, and reads the document.
“We have not received any proper explanation on this issue,” he added.
The Jeju air pilot union also criticized the report, saying that it was “deeply outraged” by the conclusions and that “it would firmly reject the malicious attempt that the pilot be brought from responsibility.”
A collision with birds or even the defect of the landing train are mentioned clues to explain the accident. The wall against which the plane crashed is also in doubt. The final report must be published in June 2026.
