The Israeli Prime Minister’s office confirmed on Thursday, July 24 that Israel had received Hamas’ response to his truce proposal in Gaza, adding that he was examining, after more than two weeks of indirect discussions in Qatar.
“The mediators have transmitted Hamas’ response to the Israeli negotiation team, and is currently being examined,” said a brief press release from Benjamin Netanyahu’s office.
During the night from Wednesday to Thursday, Hamas said he had presented his response to the mediators to an Israeli proposal of a 60 -day fire in Gaza.
Talks that last
The answer included amendments offered to clauses on the entry of humanitarian aid, maps of the areas of which the Israeli army must withdraw and guarantees at the permanent end of the war, according to a Palestinian source close to the conversations.
The negotiators of the two fields have indirect discussions in Qatar with mediators, in an attempt to reach an agreement on a truce that would allow the release of ten Israeli hostages in exchange for an indefinite number of Palestinian prisoners.
But these conversations have extended for more than two weeks without advances, each camp accuses the other for refusing to give their key requests.
