The United Kingdom is preparing to leave humanitarian aid to the population of Gaza and evacuate “children who need medical assistance,” said a Downing Street spokesman on Saturday, July 26.
“The Prime Minister (Keir Starmer) explained how the United Kingdom was also going to implement plans aimed at collaborating with partners such as Jordan to transport air help and evacuate children who need medical assistance,” said the spokesman in a statement, published after a telephone interview between Keir Starmer, French president Emmanuel Macron and Chancellor Friedrich Merz.
On Friday, Paris, Berlin and London urged the Israeli government to “immediately raise the restrictions on aid delivery.”
At least a third of interested inhabitants
Israel faces a growing international pressure on the dramatic humanitarian situation of Gaza.
A total imposed blockade at the beginning of March at the Palestinian enclave was softened very partially, which led to a very serious shortage of food, drugs and other basic needs.
According to the Global Food Program, the UN Agency that deals with food aid, approximately one third of the residents of the Gaza band do not eat for days.
