An inmate of a penitentiary center in New Orleans is sought after being released by mistake, said Anne Kirpatrick, a local police commissioner at a press conference this Friday, July 25.
An administrative error is linked to this version. “Although our systems are designed to detect these anomalies, a human error has led to a failure in the verification process,” said Susan Hutson Sheriff, who also apologized and says full responsibility. “
The detainee was confused with another, who had to be released, with whom he shared the same surname, local authorities said, who launched an appeal for him to be.
An open investigation
Susan Huston said that an investigation had been opened and that the prison staff in service when the prisoner is released will soon be interrogated.
The detainee had been sentenced by acts related to robberies and drugs, including the possession of equipment for drug use. Anne Kirpatrick also said she had “violent criminal records.”
In this same prison, several detainees had already escaped last May. Two of them had been arrested.
