“They burned the house”: a Franco-Siria blocked in Soueida, surrounded by jihadist forces, his worried family

Amjaad, a Franco-Siria that resided in the Rouen region, remained blocked in Soueida, a city surrounded by jihadist forces in Syria, after visiting the family. His brother entrusted BFM Normandy with his anxiety when he joined the Damascus airport to join Paris this Thursday, July 31.

An ex-location of Mont-Saint-Aintan (Sena-Marítima) blocked against jihadists. Amjaad Zarifah, a Franco-Siria who recently made the way to “see the family,” recently found himself blocked in community clashes between Druzes and Bedouins, before the fighting extended with the intervention of government forces and tribal combatants.

Ayman Zarifah, Amjaad’s brother, entrusts BFM Normandie this Thursday, July 31, the anguish of his sister and children. “They started killing people, civilians,” said the latter.

Amjaad’s husband was also attacked and killed during clashes. “They burned the house, they killed my brother -in -law also and burned the bodies,” said Ayman Zarifah.

Relatives “in contact” with quai d’Orsay

Finally, the Franco-Siria found refuge “with a relative of her husband” where she lived in precarious conditions, according to her brother who evokes a “lack of electricity, network, drinking water and is not sure so that they cannot move.”

While Ayman Zarifah says he is “in contact” with Quai d’Orsay, directly in relation to the French embassy in Lebanon, he told our microphone that Paris could not be explained to his sister. “France is not at war with Syria and you can’t send a vehicle to get it,” he explains.

Amjaad Zarifah’s brother learned this Thursday morning that his sister was able to join Damascus airport and that he should soon reach Paris, to leave this episode behind definitely.
