Five people were killed and 18 injured in an attack on Club Q, a gay bar in Colorado Springs, US, when a gunman entered the room and began firing a gun.
According to the Colorado Springs Police Department, when authorities arrived on the scene, they immediately located the suspect in the bar. The suspect was taken to hospital for medical attention and is detained at the police station.
It is still unclear what caused the suspect’s injuries, but a spokeswoman for the Colorado Springs Police Department said no law enforcement officers were involved in the shooting.
Police said the attack killed five people and injured at least 18. The victims have been taken to various hospitals in the city.
On-site triage was performed by the Colorado Springs Fire Department.
Those who escaped this attack unharmed are now with their families and police are working with hospitals to notify the families of the injured and fatalities.
In a statement posted on social media, Club Q revealed it was “devastated by the senseless attack on our community” and offered its condolences to the victims and their families.
It was also put forward by Club Q that the suspect was dominated by bar patrons.
