Almost 1,400 Palestinians have been killed since May 27 at the Gaza Strip, “more” by the Israeli army while waiting for humanitarian aid, they accused the UN on Friday, August 1.
“In total, since May 27, at least 1,373 Palestinians have been killed while looking for food,” said a press release for the Palestinian territories of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights.
“Most of these murders have been committed by the Israeli army,” said this UN organization. “Even if we are aware of the presence of other armed elements in the same areas, we have no information that indicates their participation in these murders,” he said.
Most young men and children
“859 of them were killed near the GHF sites (organization supported by Israel and the United States) and 514 along the routes of food convoys,” said the press release.
In two days, “between July 30 and 31, reports 105 Palestinians killed, and at least 680 wounded by the roads of convoys in the Zikim region, north of Gaza, and in the Amarre region south of Khan Younès, as well as the proximity to GHF sites in the center of Gaza and Rafah.”
“The fires and bombings of the Palestinians by the Israeli army continued along the routes of the food convoys and near the GHF sites, despite the army announcement on July 27 of the suspension of their military actions (…) during certain hours to improve the humanitarian response,” deplores the UN office.
Most victims “seem to be young men and children.” “These are not simple figures,” said the Human Rights Office in the Palestinian territory, which says “having information” that indicates that the victims “participated directly in hostilities or represented a threat to Israeli security forces or other people.”
