Impressive photos. A volcano in eastern Indonesia broke out on Friday, August 1, spitting a column of 10 -kilometer ashes, four weeks after a previous eruption that caused the cancellation of dozens of flights in Bali.
Located on the Tourist Island of Florès, Mont Lewotobi Laki-Laki, which culminates at 1,584 meters, exploded at 8:48 pm local time (2:48 pm French hour), said the National Volcanology Agency, in a press release, specifying that the height of the style “was measured about 10,000 meters above the summit.”
This eruption has been triggered by an accumulation of gas in recent weeks, since its part explained that the agency’s head, Muhammad Wafid, in a press release. He also warned about the possibility, in case of heavy rains, lahars, landslides or debris composed of volcanic materials, particularly dangerous for communities near the rivers.
Population alert
The damage or the victim is not listed at this time. Tourists and the local population have received instructions to avoid any activity within a radius of 6 km around the volcano, said Muhammad Wafid.
The photos shared by the Geology Agency show a volcanic flash at the top of the smoke plume. Last month, this volcano had already spit an ash column that had up to 18 kilometers in the sky, causing the cancellation of 24 flights at Bali International Airport.
After Friday’s eruption, no flight has not been postponed or canceled. Laki-Laki, which means “man” in Indonesio, is linked to another quieter volcano, but taller, which culminated at 1,703 meters, Perempuan, which means “woman.” Indonesia, a vast archipelago, is experiencing a frequent seismic and volcanic activity due to its position in the “circle of fire” of the Pacific.
