“I’m sorry, I just had to send an SMS to my wife.” A local American channel KTTC was set by a spectator for sending an SMS to his wife in total coverage of a current storm in southeast Minnesota and northern Iowa on Monday, July 28.
While his colleague is expressed, we see presenter Nick Jensen Pianot on his mobile phone for a few seconds before apologizing live: “I’m sorry, I had to send an SMS to my wife. The baby slept all night.” But this gesture was not the taste of a spectator.
“I received an email reproaching myself for my lack of professionalism during my report,” said the chief meteorologist on his Facebook account. Before citing a prayer that marked him: “‘That he must call his wife to make sure she puts the baby safe? Some can find him noble or cute. No I'”.
“I am first of a husband and a father”
Nick Jansen has broken an explanatory message, emphasizing not to regret its gesture.
“I take my work and their security very seriously. But I am also a husband and a father. In the midst of a violent storm, I decided to take a brief time to make sure that my wife and son were safe in the basement,” he wrote.
“It is not a lack of professionalism on my part, it is simply human. I am the first of a husband and a father,” insists the presenter.
A horde of support accompanied his speech on social networks. Its Facebook publication received 265,000 reactions, very positive.
“If I were the woman alone at home with a baby and my husband was not there, I would also appreciate a 23 second SMS,” says a surfer, collecting more than 4,000 “Like.”
“What you did was not the lack of professionalism was deeply human and extremely responsible,” said another. What Nick Jansen touch: “Thank you very much for all your love and your support,” he reacted.
The KTTC channel also admitted its presenter. “The KTTC team is proud of Nick and the work he did with the First Alert weather team on Monday night,” said Stephanie Hedrick, vice president and general director of the Canal. “KTTC knows that when our meteorologists, presenters and reporters spread information, they also point to their own families, they inform them and help them stay safe.”
“In this specific case, viewers could see this live: Nick was a good husband and a good father who took the time to make sure they were safe,” he added.
