466 arrests during a demonstration in support of the prohibited group Palestine Action in London

466 people were arrested, this Saturday, August 9 in London, during support for support to the Palestinian Action Group classified as “terrorist organization” in the country.

A total of 466 supporters of the Palestine Action Organization were arrested on Saturday in London during a demonstration of support for this proportine network, prohibited in early July and classified the “terrorist organization,” the London Police announced.

This carried out these arrests, one of the greatest numbers for a single demonstration in the British capital, for “support for a forbidden organization.”

“Acting against genocide is not a crime”

Police said they stopped or “doing it” to all the people who have shown the signal “I oppose the genocide, support the action of Palestine.” In the act, protesters have brought other signs such as “acting against genocide is not a” free Palestine “crime.

The war in the Gaza Strip was launched after the unprecedented attack of Hamas in Israel on October 7, 2023, which resulted in the death of 1,219 people, mostly civilians, according to an AFP count made of official Israeli data.

Since then, Israeli reprisals have made at least 61,369 dead in this Palestinian territory, mainly civil, according to figures from the Ministry of Hamas, considered reliable by the UN.

“It’s a moral imperative to be here,” Mathilda told AFP, who didn’t want to give her last name.

“If you want to stop, I will not leave it and I will not hide,” added this septuagenarian, especially arrived from Bristol, west of London, and who was sitting next to other protesters with the support signal for the forbidden group.

“Nothing that blames me”

“Let them all stop us,” added Richard Bull, a 42 -year -old Londonian in a wheelchair. “This government went too far. I have nothing to blame.” Many Palestinian flags were visible in the crowd, a few steps from which police cars aligned, an AFP journalist said.

Police had warned participants against the “possible criminal consequences” of their actions. The arrested people did not oppose resistance, many forming a “V” victory with their fingers, the applause of other protesters, an AFP journalist said.

Palestine’s action was added to the list of organizations considered “terrorists” in the United Kingdom, after acts of vandalism perpetrated by its activists, particularly on the basis of the Air Force.

The group defends our jurors has been organized for protests against this prohibition, considered “disproportionate” by the UN for protests. “We will continue while the government tries to silence those who denounce their complicity in war crimes,” jurors reacted in a statement.

“More and more of us are already preparing for the next wave of shares in September.” “The arrest of other peaceful protesters is a violation of the international obligations of the United Kingdom to protect the rights of freedom of expression and meeting,” said Ngo Amnesty International on Saturday in X.

“It is not a non -violent organization”

The British government affirms that the supporters of Palestine’s action “do not know the true nature” of this movement. “It is not a non -violent organization,” said Interior Minister Yvette Cooper, saying that he has “disturbing information” in his projects.

More than 200 of his followers had already been arrested before Saturday’s demonstration, according to Tim Crosland, a representative of defending our jurors. Three people were accused under the anti -terrorist law on Thursday for expressing their support for the action of Palestine, a crime responsible for up to six months in prison.

Belonging to a forbidden group or incentive to support it can be worth up to 14 years in prison.

The prohibition of the action of Palestine resulted in a legal action initiated by Huda Ammori, co -founder in 2020 of this organization that was presented as a “direct action network” aimed at denouncing the “British complicity” with the state of Israel, in particular in the issue of weapons sales. British justice must examine this appeal in November.
