A person died and forty -four disappear in the center of Benin after the fall of a passenger bus on the Ouémé River, on the night of Saturday, August 17, August 17, said the Ministry of Interior Benino.
In a statement published this Sunday, Minister Alassane Seidou specifies that the bus driver who connected to Lomé to Niamey “lost control of his vehicle after violently hitting the bridge over the Ouémé river before failing to the bottom of the water.”

According to Alassane Seidou, who specifies that the bus took 54 people, the balance is of a dead man who was deposited in the Morgue de Savè, the big closer city and 44 people “not yet found.” Nine survivors were evacuated to a “stable state” at the Savè hospital, added the minister.
The causes of the accident were not specified on Sunday night and the bus rescue operations were underway. The minister said that “all means” were deployed to find the disappeared.
The STM company, to which the accidental bus belonged, on the other hand presented in a press release its condolences to families without giving an evaluation, saying “official conclusions.”
The accident took place on the interstatal national road No. 2, which crosses all of Benin, from its economic capital of Cotonou (South) in Malanville, Border Town with Niger, to the north.
