A first statement, from Volodymyr Zelensky’s foot, placed in the United States. Donald Trump said early on Monday, August 18 (French time, editor’s note) that the Ukrainian President, whom he had to receive Monday at the White House, could end the war with Russia “almost immediately”, excluding that kyiv recovered control of the crime annexed by Moscow in 2014 and enters NATO.
“The Ukrainian president, Zelensky, can end the war with Russia almost immediately if he wants, or can continue fighting. He remembers how he began. There is no matter of recovering the Crimea given by Obama (12 years ago, without shooting himself only once) and there is no doubt so that Ukraine enters NATO,” the US president wrote in his social network of truth.
European leaders in the White House
For his part, shortly after, Volodymyr Zelensky said he wanted to end the “quickly” war but with a “sustainable” peace in his country.
“We all have the deep desire to finish this war quickly and reliable. And peace must be sustainable,” he wrote about X Volodymyr Zelensky.
The Ukrainian president arrived, around 5 hours (in France), in Washington and will be accompanied during the day many European leaders such as Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Merz or British Prime Minister Stamer.
