An image of “horrible image of our country”: Donald Trump asks justice to investigate the “awakened” museums

After universities, Donald Trump announced that he asked the juice to investigate museums throughout the United States, which he accuses of being “awake.” “Wokismo is over,” he said.

Continuing with its offensive against US educational and cultural institutions, Donald Trump announced on Tuesday, August 19, having asked justice to investigate museums throughout the country that accuses of being “aroused”, in particular with respect to the history of slavery.

“The Museums of Washington, but also throughout the country, are essentially the last remains of ‘Wokismo’,” the president denounced in his social network of truth.

“I gave instructions to my prosecutors to review (the policy of the) museums and begin exactly the same process followed by universities, where immense advances have been carried out,” added the conservative billionaire.

“This country cannot be ‘awake’ because wokism is over,” he proclaimed.

The White House had announced last week in a letter to the institution that manages about twenty public museums in Washington, the Smithsonian institution, which the government was going to carry out an in -depth exam to guarantee its “alignment” with the vision of the history of the United States defended by Donald Trump, based on the “truth and reason.”

“Smithsonian is out of control”

“The Smithsonian is out of control,” said Donald Trump, deplorating that the museums of the Federal Capital present, according to him, a “horrible image of our country, (in particular) about the misdeeds of slavery (…) and nothing about their success and brilliance.”

The US president signed last March a decree aimed at recovering control of the content of the Smithsonian museums, which had already accused of “historical revisionism” and “racial indoctrination, especially under his predecessors and political enemies Barack Obama (2009-2017) and Joe Biden (2021-2025).

The US government justified these measures against museums, which also affect the Washington Cultural Center, the Kennedy Center, on the 250th anniversary of the Independence of the United States in 2026.

Donald Trump has been committed for seven months in a rapid recovery of cultural and educational institutions in which he influences, from museums to universities, to expose himself from what he considers progressive ideas in favor of minorities.

The English term “woke up” and “Wokismo” are borrowed from African -American struggles, whose meaning is “to be awake” of injustices. They have been recovered and diverted pejoratively by conservative leaders and movements in Europe and the United States, to denounce what they consider excess activism in wrestling issues for minorities and against social and climatic injustices.
