London sent the first Sea King helicopter to Ukraine

The UK has sent a helicopter to Ukraine for the first time as part of its support program for the Russian-invaded country, the British defense ministry said on Wednesday.

British Defense Secretary Ben Wallace, who is in Norway to discuss Allied representatives about support measures for Ukraine, said London would also send an additional shipment of 10,000 artillery shells to Kiev.

“Our support for Ukraine is unwavering. The additional ammunition will help Ukraine secure the territories it has regained from Russia in recent weeks,” Ben Wallace said in a statement.

The document indicates the “first deployment of Sea King helicopters that will provide vital rescue and search capabilities to Ukraine”.

The first of three devices has already shipped to the country.

So far, the UK has provided Kiev with air defense systems and drones (unmanned devices), but has never sent helicopters.

According to the statement, British troops formed ten teams of Ukrainian army and engineers who will operate the Sea Kings.

British military aid also includes “125 anti-aircraft guns and technology to contain drones reportedly supplied by Iran, as well as dozens of radars and electronic anti-drone equipment.
