The Israeli strike in a hospital in Gaza who killed at least 20 people, including five journalists, is “intolerable,” said Emmanuel Macron on Monday, August 25, calling Israel to “respect international law.”
“Civil and journalists must be protected in all circumstances. The media must be able to exercise their mission freely and independently to cover the reality of the conflict,” he writes in X Emmanuel Macron after a telephone interview with the EMIR of Qatar, Tamim Ben Hamad Al Thani.
“The reduction of a population in the famine is a crime that must stop immediately,” he insists.
Benjamin Netanyahu begs the “accident”
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu deplored a “tragic accident” after the death of the five journalists, many of whom worked for international media such as AP, Reuters and Al Jazeera.
“Israel deeply regrets the tragic accident that happened today at Nasser Hospital” in Khan Younès, said Benjamin Netanyahu in an English statement, ensuring that “Israel gives importance to journalists, as well as medical staff and all civilians.”
“The military authorities are carrying out an in -depth investigation. Our war is against Hamas terrorists. Our legitimate objectives are to defeat Hamas and take our hostages home,” added Israeli prime minister.
The death of these journalists occurs shortly after an Israeli strike, led the night from August 10 to 11 in a tent used by a team of journalists in the city of Gaza, who had killed four employees of Al Jazeera and two independent workers, aroused international outrage.
