The Russian president, Vladimir Putin, defended his offensive on Monday, September 1 on Monday, September 1, once again accusing west of having activated the conflict at a summit organized by Beijing in Tianjin, China.
“This crisis was not caused by the attack on Russia in Ukraine, it is the result of a coup d’etat in Ukraine, which was supported and caused by the West,” said Vladimir Putin at a summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (OCS).
This statement refers to the proeuropean movements of the Maidan in Ukraine, which forced the president of the country to leave power in 2014. Moscow had attached the Crimean Peninsula and supported by the pre-ruse separatists in the east of the country, which caused a civil war.
“The second cause of the crisis is the constant attempts of the West to attract Ukraine in NATO,” added the Russian leader.
“Strategic partners”
Vladimir Putin spoke with his main allies: Chinese President Xi Jinping, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Iranian President Massoud Pezeshkian.
“We greatly appreciate the efforts and proposals of China, India and our other strategic partners, which aim to contribute to the resolution of the Ukrainian crisis,” said the Russian president.
Until now, peace proposals between Moscow and kyiv have failed, despite the calls of the president of the United States, Donald Trump, to conclude an agreement.
Vladimir Putin rejected the calls to a high fire, asking Ukraine to give up more territory and resign from Western support. Kyiv refused, judging these inadmissible requirements. The OCS is presented by Beijing and Moscow as a counterweight for NATO.
Apart from the Tianjin summit, Vladimir Putin is expected to meet Monday with the Turkish and Iranian presidents and the Indian prime minister. Xi Jinping and Vladimir Putin should have discussions on Tuesday in Beijing.
