Vladimir Putin, Xi Jinping … What is the Tianjin Summit where hostile countries in the West join?

The presidents of Russia, China, India and Iran meet this Monday, September 1 in Tianjin for a summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (OCS). Vladimir Putin talked about the war in Ukraine there and unrolled his anti-this narrative.

A great hostile state header to the west. The Shanghai Summit cooperation organization (OCS) meets this Monday, September 1 in Tianjin in China on Monday, September 1.

In his opening speech, Chinese President Xi Jinping denounced “intimidation” and the spirit of “Cold War” at work in the world. For China, this summit that brings together more than 20 foreign leaders is a bulwark for “hegemonism” and “the strongest policy” in a context of multiple crises.

The OCS brings together ten countries, including China, Russia, Iran, India, Pakistan and the nations of Central Asia. It intends to counteract Western organizations and strengthen cooperation in terms of policy, security, anti -terrorism or even trade.

More than 20 foreign leaders

More than 20 foreign leaders, including the Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, and Russian President Vladimir Putin, participated in La Cumbre, the most important since the creation of the organization, the Chinese Foreign Minister Liu Bin, Liu Bin, on Friday before the press, said on Friday.

Other dignitaries were also announced, such as Iranian presidents Massoud fishshkian, Turco Recep Tayyip Erdogan or even the Biolorusse Alexandre Loukachenko, as well as the heads of international organizations, such as the UN Secretary General, Antonio Guterres.

With this great regional meeting, China expects to “stimulate the dynamics of cooperation” and “based on the stability and resistance of OCS, to face the uncertainties of the international situation,” said Liu Bin.

“Strengthen solidarity”

“In today’s world, the old mentalities of hegemonism and the strongest policy remain lessons. Some countries are trying to place their own interests above others, which seriously threatens world peace and stability,” he said in a clear allusion in the United States.

“The more the international situation becomes more complex and becomes turbulent, the more countries must strengthen their solidarity and cooperation to promote common development,” he said.

Together, the states gathered within the OCS represent three and a half million inhabitants on the planet, or 42% of the world’s population and 22% of the world GDP.

A diatribe against the West

This Monday, Vladimir Putin took advantage of this forum to defend, once again, his war against Ukraine and accused the Western powers of being at the origin of the conflict.

“This crisis was not caused by the attack against Russia in Ukraine, it is the result of a coup d’etat in Ukraine, which was supported and caused by the West (…) the second cause of the crisis, are the constant attempts of the West attract Ukraine in NATO in NATO,” added the Russian leader.
