A figure in the pro -European revolution
Andriï Parubiy, 54, was a figure in Maidan’s pro -European revolution and had been president of the Ukrainian Parliament, El Rada, from 2016 to 2019.
He was shot dead this Saturday, August 30 in the west of the country on Saturday, August 30, a murder that the Chief of Ukrainian Military Intelligence Kyrylo Boudanov has attributed half a word to Russia with whom the country has been at war since February 2022.
Andriï Parubiy is remarkably known for its role in the main proeuropean movements in Ukraine, first the “Orange Revolution” of 2004, then that of Maidan in 2014.
He had been “commander” of self -defense groups during Maidan’s demonstrations, repressed in the blood. This movement had forced President Prorusse Viktor ianoukovitch to leave power to flee Russia in 2014.
Andriï Parubiy was placed on the list of people sought by the Russian authorities. This includes tens of thousands of names, including those of many Ukrainian officials, but also Russian or Western personalities.
In 2014, Andriï Parubiy had survived an attempt at perpetrated murder using a combat grenade, according to Ukrainian media.
“A patriot”
In addition to three years of war, the Ukrainians and the Russians regularly accused of murders, including political and military leaders. On Saturday, the alleged public audiovisual group said that the shooter was dressed as a delivery man and directed an electric bicycle, citing anonymous sources.
The announcement of Andriï Parubiy’s death aroused a shower of tributes from Ukrainian officials. Prime Minister Iulia Svydenko paid tribute to “a patriot” who “made a great contribution to the formation of our state.”
Another figure of the Maidan, Naïem Moustafa, praised the “humanism” of an official who fought for “important questions” with the AFP.
Former President Petro Poroshenko told him that Andriï’s death was a “shot in the heart of Ukraine,” denouncing “an act of terror.”
