Two young people killed in a violent assault. A group of masked people armed with machetes killed two children aged 12 and 15 in a “horrible” attack in Melbourne, Australia, police announced on Sunday, September 7.
“Even if the investigation has just begun, the facts present the characteristics of a crime committed by a youth gang,” said Graham Banks, a police inspector in the state of Victoria.
The two victims were killed in nearby places on Saturday night, police said, that the gang had about eight members.
Police discovered a 12 -year -old child seriously. “Despite attempts to resurrect paramedics, it could not be saved,” said Graham Banks.
Shortly after, the police found a 15 -year -old boy in a neighboring street, with “important” stabbing wounds. Nor could he be risen.
Machetes and knives armies
According to witnesses and video surveillance images, the murders were committed by the same group of about eight masked people, armed with machetes and long knives of blades, detailed Graham banks.
“The children who were killed were not members of a gang, and we cannot remain silent,” he said.
At the moment, it is difficult to know if the attack was attacked or if it is an error about the identity of the victims, police said.
Homicides and related crimes increased by 9% in the country in 2024, with 448 victims, according to official figures.
Sell or have a machete is prohibited in the state of Victoria, after a fight in May between rival gangs armed with machetes in a shopping center in Melbourne.
