Two blasts in Jerusalem on Wednesday killed one person and injured at least 15, two of them seriously, police said, calling the attacks “terrorist”.
Early in the morning, the first explosion at a bus stop injured at least 12 people, two of them in critical condition, and one of them already died in hospital, the national emergency service said.
Shortly afterwards, there was another explosion at another bus stop in Ramot, in occupied East Jerusalem, causing three minor injuries.
After deadly attacks in Israel from March, the Israeli army has launched more than 2,000 attacks in the West Bank.
These attacks, and the skirmishes that sometimes accompany them, claimed the lives of 125 Palestinians, the highest death toll in seven years, according to the UN.
Without claiming responsibility for the attacks in Jerusalem, the Palestinian Islamist movement Hamas, which is in power in the Gaza Strip, viewed them as “the price of Israel’s crimes and aggression” “against the Palestinian people.”
