She is still alive thanks to a shepherd who made her goats graze. A newborn baby was discovered buried on Sunday, September 14 in northern India, in the state of Uttar Pradesh, in particular the times of India and BBC.
Admitted to an Intensive Neonataly care unit, this child of about 20 days had its vital proons still hired on Thursday. “We do our best to save her,” said Dr. Rajesh Kumar, director of the Hospital of Shahjahanpur.
According to Times of India, a shepherd named Dubloo and accompanied by his goats heard small crying on Sunday from a mound of land. He approached that he noticed an outdoor hand, in blood and covered with ants. “I could barely believe what I saw,” summarized the shepherd, cited by the daily Indian.
A case far from being an exception
After being exhumed by the police, the baby was hospitalized when he was covered with land. “His condition was critical, he lacked oxygen. He had been bitten by insects and an animal,” Rajesh Kumar told the BBC.
“After 24 hours, we find a slight improvement in her condition, but her condition has deteriorated. She has developed an infection,” he added.
Police said they had not yet managed to find the child’s parents. But the history of this newborn is not unique in India, where cases of abandonment or even the homicide of girls are not uncommon.
As BBC remembers, it is known that India is one of the countries with the worst gender relationship in the world due to the fact that girls are often considered a financial burden, especially in the poorest communities.
