Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko delivered a message in Kyiv on Thursday on the sidelines of the summit of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSO), a Russian-led military alliance made up of neighboring states. He called on Ukraine to negotiate to end the conflict, at the risk of suffering “total destruction”.
“It will be hard, it will be complex, but if they want to restore peace it must stop, otherwise the next step will be the total destruction of Ukraine,” the Kremlin ally said.
For him, “everything is in the hands of Ukraine, not because they want to put pressure on Volodymyr Zelensky, but because everything is really in their hands now, if they want to avoid the death of a large number of people,” too. he said he.

But “Ukraine does not intend to come to the negotiating table with Vladimir Putin,” Yevhen Perebyinis, Ukraine’s Deputy Foreign Minister, said earlier this week. He recalls that Kyiv had warned that he would leave the negotiating table if Moscow held referendums on Russia’s membership of the conquered regions, which the Kremlin did.

Alexander Lukashenko, for his part, spoke this week about the difficulties Moscow is encountering in Ukraine. “I feel like we all have the same opinion: if Russia collapses, God forbid, our place will be in the rubble,” he said.
