The Palestinian and Jordanas authorities announced on Tuesday, September 23 that Israel was going to close on Wednesday and “even more notice” Allenby’s border post, the main crossing point between the West Bank and Jordan occupied, where humanitarian aid to Gaza was passed. Israel has not confirmed this decision.
“The Israeli part has informed us about the closure of Al-Karameh’s crossing (or Allenby, editor’s note) tomorrow, Wednesday (…) and even new directions,” said the general Palestinian authority of Cruce and borders in a press release.
Closed “until new notice”
The Jordanas authorities also announced the closure of the Post Border, also known as the Pont Du Roi Hussein, specifying that it was closed “on the other side of trafficking and goods traffic, until it is notified.”
This border post, located in the Jourdain Valley, is the only one that allows the Palestinians of the West Bank to leave the territory without having to go through Israel, which has occupied the West Bank since 1967.
He had closed last Thursday after a Jordanian truck driver who transported Humanitarian aid to Gaza had opened fire to the side of Pont Allenby’s Pont in the hands of Israel, killing two Israeli soldiers.
The Israeli army then asked Amman to suspend the aid to the Gaza Strip, devastated by almost two years of war.
