Mining accidents are frequent in Colombia
The rescue is directed by the company’s security brigade, in collaboration with the government authorities.
Mining accidents are frequently fatal in Colombia, especially in coal deposits and illegal or handmade mines. However, they are less frequent in mining concessions exploited by multinationals.
Last year, 124 people lost their lives in this type of accident and, until July 2025, this figure amounted to 65, according to data from the National Minas Agency.
