Ryan Routh was convicted this Tuesday, September 23, having tried to kill Donald Trump in his Florida golf course in 2024, two months before the presidential elections, and tried to face himself with a pen just after the verdict, according to several US media.

This 59 -year -old man was recognized by a guilty jury of the five positions, including the murder attempt of a presidential candidate, subject to life imprisonment. The pronouncement of his sentence was established for December 18.

“A great moment for justice in the United States”

After reading the verdict in a federal court in Florida (southeast), he tried to stab with a pen, but the guards intervened to avoid it, inform in particular Fox News and NBC.

Donald Trump praised on his social social platform “a very great moment for justice in the United States”, while his justice minister Pam Bondi praised a verdict in a statement that “illustrates the commitment of the Ministry of Justice to punish all those who participate in political violence.”

“What Roth did was objectively evil, an attempt not only to come alive, but also deprive Americans of their right to vote and freedom of expression,” the prosecutor reacted for southern Florida, Jason Quiñones, cited in the press release of the Ministry.

Judge Aileen Cannon had authorized Ryan Routh in July, despite his lack of legal training, to guarantee his own defense in his trial that he opened on September 8.

Ryan Routh was also convicted of illegal arrest of weapons due to his criminal record, possession of a weapon to the deleted serial number, arrest of burning weapons for the commission of a violent crime and assault of a federal agent.

He was fled on September 15, 2024 by the agents of the Secret Service, in charge of the protection of the high US political figures, who had seen him with a weapon near the golf course in which Donald Trump played. He had been arrested shortly after.

A second murder attempt against Trump

It was the second attempt to murder against the republican candidate and future winner of the presidential elections of 2024.

Donald Trump had escaped by little other attempt on July 13, 2024, during a meeting in Butler, Pennsylvania (Northeast).

Its author, Thomas Matthew Crooks, 20, had managed to draw several bullets before being shot down by the Secret Service. Donald Trump’s images, the blood that flow in the face and the fists raised, had turned the world and the event had been considered a key moment in the campaign.
