The Ukrainian president, Volodymyr Zelensky, announced on Saturday, September 27 that Ukraine had received from Israel an anti -avion patriot system, an expensive and essential US manufacturing armament to postpone Russian missile attacks aimed at the country.
“An Israeli system (Patriot) works in Ukraine, has spent a month since it operates,” said President Zelensky at a press conference, without specifying whether kyiv had bought or obtained free of charge.
In April, the New York Times, citing official US sources, said that a patriotic system based in Israel would be renewed and then sent to Ukraine, the Israeli Air Force that wishes to acquire more modern equipment.
A neutrality position that has evolved
After the activation of the Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2022, Israel had adopted a neutral position by not sanctioning Russia, unlike many other Western countries.
But their ties with Moscow relaxed against the strengthening of the alliance between Russia and Iran, who is accused of having provided attacks in the Kremlin, and the war fought by Israel in the Gaza Strip, condemned by the Russian authorities.
Kyiv had markedly hosted the strikes of Israel and the United States in nuclear sites in Iran in June.
Volodymyr Zelensky also returned to his recent meeting in New York with his American counterpart, Donald Trump, on Saturday on Saturday.
According to President Zelensky, the two leaders found an “agreement” on the purchase of KYIV of “appropriate weapons” in the United States.
“We have done the main, we are listened to the president and we went to the practical application,” said the Ukrainian head of state.
Discussions with Donald Trump
He added that kyiv had provided Trump details about the armaments that Ukraine wanted in a plan to buy $ 90 billion in Washington, which he had mentioned for the first time in August.
However, during his press conference, Volodymyr Zelensky did not confirm that he had asked Donald Trump about Missile Tomahawk, as an article in the American media said Axios.
“I can’t give more details, since it is a very sensitive issue,” said the Ukrainian president, questioned about this point.
Donald Trump made a verbal change on Tuesday by comparing Russia with a “paper tiger” and suggested that Ukraine could win the war against the Russian army, when he had previously favored the dialogue with Vladimir Putin and, sometimes, the helm Volodyr Zelensky.
