“I don’t feel free”: the suspect published in the Maddie McCann case denounces a “witch hunt”

Christian Brückner, the main suspect in the disappearance of Madeleine McCann, left prison in Germany. It seems free, due to lack of sufficient evidence to accuse him in the case of the girl who disappeared in 2007. But it is still very guarded by the authorities.

The main suspect in the disappearance of Madeleine McCann spoke for the first time since his release from prison. The German Christian Brückner granted an interview with Sky News, in which he asked justice to stop his “witch hunt” against him. Therefore, he wants to “return his life.”

“I don’t feel free. I have an electronic ankle bracelet and the police follow me 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, so I don’t feel free,” he told The British News Channel.

Christian Brückner even said that he had traveled more than one hundred kilometers to the prosecutor’s office, Christian Wolters, but that he was prevented from entering him. The German prosecutor had declared that he had released the suspect due to lack of sufficient evidence at this stage to obtain an accusation, but was concerned about the liberation of an individual “fundamentally dangerous.”

“I’m harassed”

Consequently, Christian Brückner remains subject to surveillance measures and with individual has an electronic bracelet. It must also be regularly presented to the authorities.

“The prosecutor refused to meet me, but I told his representative that he wanted to help my life (…). I am harassed by the media and it is his fault. I want him to assume his responsibilities,” said Christian Brückner of Sky News.

“They told me that they could not do anything to help me. They said that he had been convicted and released and that he was not under his responsibility,” he continued.

“You are likely to commit other crimes”

Christian Brückner remains the main suspect in the disappearance of the British girl Madeleine McCann in 2007 in Portugal. He left prison on Wednesday, September 17 in Germany after serving a rape sentence in another case, that of a 72 -year -old American in 2005 in Portugal as well.

The disappearance in the same Portuguese region of Madeleine McCann has never been clarified despite an international campaign and an extraordinary media mobilization.

According to the prosecutor, during the exams carried out as part of his last judgment, a psychiatrist concluded that Christian Brückner “would probably commit other crimes, including sexual crimes.”

“This risk persists because the defendant did not benefit from any therapy during his detention,” said the German prosecutor in BFMTV.

Christian Brückner has been sentenced several times for sexual violence or aggression, especially for children. In addition, many pedocriminal contents have been found at home. The Prosecutor’s Office spoke of a “detailed abuse guide on children and women.” The name of the sexual criminal appears in many other files, especially outside Germany or Portugal.
