Has the flotilla for Gaza entered the Palestinian waters? Israel says no, organizers make sure

The Israeli naval forces intercepted on Wednesday “several ships” of the flotilla that approached the Gaza Strip, indicating that no ship had managed to break the maritime block imposed in the Palestinian territory. The organizers of this humanitarian convoy, meanwhile, indicated otherwise.

Has the flotilla for Gaza arrived on the Palestinian coast? Israel announced Thursday, October 3 that the passengers of the Flotilla for Gaza were intercepted in the Mediterranean and would be expelled to Europe, while claiming that no ship had managed to break the maritime block imposed in the Palestinian territory.

On the contrary, the organizers of the humanitarian convoy claimed the arrival of the humanitarian convoy in the territorial waters of the State of Palestine.

“Now we have entered the high -risk area, the place where the previous floats have been attacked and/or intercepted,” the Sumud Global Flotilla said Wednesday.

In addition, the official flotilla site, where it is possible to see the route of all ships through a tracking system, shows the Mikeno ship, one of the only ones in the convoy that is currently closer to the Palestinian coast. And unlike Israel’s words about the interception of the flotilla, Greece indicated that 39 of the 45 help ships for Gaza were intercepted, according to several media, including Reuters.

The Sumud Global flotilla, which includes 45 ships with political figures and activists such as the Swedish Greta Thunberg on board, was part of Spain in September to break the blockade imposed by Israel in the Gaza Strip, attacked by the famine according to the UN.

A last ship “remains remotely”

On Wednesday, the Israeli Navy began to intercept the ships after warning the crews in which they entered the waters from which Israel affirms control.

“None of Hamas-Sumud provocation yachts has been successful in its attempt to enter an active combat zone or break the legal naval block,” the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs said Thursday.

A last ship “remains at a distance. If you approach, your attempt to enter an active combat zone and break the block will also avoid,” he added.

Among the passengers who were being transferred to an Israeli port is Greta Thunberg, that Israeli authorities have proven to recover personal effects, surrounded by armed men.

“Hamas-Sumud passengers aboard their yachts are directed safely and peacefully to Israel, where expulsion procedures will begin to Europe. Passengers are safe and healthy,” said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The interception of the flotilla caused a wave of reactions to denounce the interruption of the fleets and requested the safety of the participants. France asked Israel “to guarantee the safety of participants.”

“We follow this situation in an extremely close way (…) we ask that all our compatriots who have made this decision (…) are protected. Depending on the evolution, we will assume the best costumes,” said Emmanuel Macron de Copenhagen.

A “peaceful and non -violent mission”

In Italy, several hundred people demonstrated in Rome and Naples on Wednesday night to protest against the interception of ships. For his part, Hamas denounced a “crime of piracy.”

The Franco-Palestinian Eurodiputada Rima Hassan, aboard the flotilla, accused Israel for having arrested hundreds of people “illegally.” He had started testifying in a direct on Instagram, before throwing his phone in the water at the time of sending the ship where he was.

Has Israel violated international law by stopping the humanitarian ship of Rima Hassan and Greta Thunberg?

The flotilla is presented as a “peaceful and non -violent mission of humanitarian aid.” It brings together hundreds of proper activists from more than 40 countries, saying that they want to “break the blockade of Gaza” and provide “humanitarian aid to a besieged population confronted with famine and genocide.”

In addition to Greta Thunberg and Rima Hassan, it includes Nelson Mandela’s grandson and former African South Mandla Mandela deputy and the former mayor of Barcelona Ada Colau.

LFI and the CGT appeal to the rally “everywhere in France”

In response to the acts of the Israeli army towards the humanitarian convoy, the rebel France (LFI) and the CGT called to meet this Thursday night and Saturday “everywhere in France” to claim the release of the flotilla teams for Gaza, who are part of the chosen officials of the movement and a CGT leader.

“Get out on October 2 from 6.30 pm, everywhere in France, to request the immediate launch of the teams and the end of the genocide in Gaza,” the political party published Wednesday night.
