This former Minister of Antiquities and Tourism (2016-2022), 54, Egyptologist by training, gathered 55 votes of 57 during this vote, which must now be formally ratified on November 6 during the meeting of the United Nations General Conference for Education, Science and Culture in Samarcande (Ouzbekist).
Khaled el-Enany will succeed a French
Khaled El-Enany will officially assume his duties on November 14, happening to the French Audrey Azoulay, in office since 2017.
Then he will become the first general director of the UNESCO of an Arab country, and the second African after the Amadou Mahtar Mbow (1974-1987) Senegalese.
