Itay Chen, David Cunio, Kuperstein Bar, Inbar Hayman … two years, day until the day, after Hamas’ terrorist attack, the names and faces of the hostages continue to resonate in Israel. Of the 251 people kidnapped this October 7, 2023, mostly civilians, 47 are still in the hands of the Palestinian Islamist movement, and detained in Gaza, where the Israeli army continues its destructive offensive.
In its last count dating from June 22, the Israel Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported 49 hostages. Since August 29, the Israeli army announced that two hostage bodies had been returned to the soil of the Hebrew state.
Do they still do about twenty hostages?
Of the remaining 47 hostages, only about twenty would still be alive. Tsahal declared that almost half of the hostages still held in the Palestinian enclave. According to the latest figures, at least 25 Israeli hostages died, as well as two other hostages of the nationality of Tanzania and Thailand.
People who present lives are men, most of them young. The youngest, Tamir Nimrodi, is a 20-year-old Israeli-German soldier at his base near Erez’s crossing. The oldest hostage, Omri Miran, 48, was withdrawn from his house in Kibbutz Nahal Oz. The only woman who was still owned by Hamas died at age 27: Inbar Haïman, a student, was withdrawn from the Nova Festival.
If these data are the last ones that have been made public, they may no longer news. Other hostages could die, due to their detention conditions, executed by Hamas, or even under the Israeli bombs that hit Gaza. On September 28, Hamas said he had lost contact with two hostages in Gaza-Ville due to Israeli raids.
Hostages, emaciated, organized in videos of Hamas
“The men (still alive, note of the editor) can die and be subject to torture or other bad treatment,” alerts Amnesty International. Hamas, and the Islamic Jihad, another Palestinian armed group, have published several hostage videos in the last two months that testify their suffering.
At the end of July, by August, Rom Breslevski, 21, and evying David, 24, seemed very weakened and very demacred in a sordid staging that made the parallel with the humanitarian situation in Gaza, threatened with “generalized famine” according to the UN.
In a sequence, Rom Baslavski is “lying on the floor in a tunnel, very demacrated and in tears. It is too weak to get up and seems to be in the death article,” describes Amnesty International.
In another sequence, avoid David, eliminated during the Nova festival, the hollow shovel in the hand, the sandy floor of the narrow tunnel where he is stopped. “What I do is that I am digging my own grave,” the demacrated body said. “I’ve been on the verge of death (…) I haven’t eaten in three days.”
At the beginning of September, another video, more than three and a half minutes, presents a hostage in a car that moves in the middle of the destroyed buildings and requests in Hebrew the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu so as not to lead the Israeli military offensive provided against the city of Gaza. The hostage, filmed that met with another hostage, said he was in the city of Gaza on August 28, 2025. We could not verify the authenticity of the video, nor the date of his record.
In these images, Guy Gilboa-Dalal and Alon Ohel appear, both 24 years old and kidnapped during the Nova Festival. Alon Ohel appeared in another video broadcast by Hamas’ armed branch on September 22. Dressed in a black shirt, this German Israeli is aimed at the Israeli prime minister urges him to obtain the launch of all the captives that are still carried out in the Gaza Strip.
He is also heard that his family continues the demonstrations against the head of the Israeli government and his team to press in favor of hostages. The sequence shows it by speaking in front of a television screen broadcasting statements by the Israeli prime minister.
Hosages launched mainly during the ceeingires
According to the Israeli newspaper Haaretz, of the 251 people kidnapped on October 7 by Hamas, 224 were civilians and 27 of the soldiers in service, including 124 men, 64 women and 36 children. In 36 cases, the victims had already died when they were taken to the Palestinian enclave.
