A visitor to the Disneyland park, in Anaheim, near Los Angeles, died this Monday, October 6, after visiting the theme park’s haunted mansion.
Firefighters intervened at the end of the day and found the victim unconscious after completing their journey. They transported the tourist to the hospital where she was pronounced dead. According to local police, Disneyland security guards previously attempted to resuscitate the woman, who is in her sixties.
The precise circumstances are still unknown.
An investigation has been opened into the cause of death. “It appears to be an unfortunate medical episode and our thoughts are with the family,” Anaheim Police Sergeant Matt Sutter tersely told the Los Angeles Times.
Anaheim firefighters told NBC they do not believe the attraction was responsible for the visitor’s death. In the haunted mansion, tourists are slowly transported to an environment filled with terrifying references. The attraction reopened quickly after the tragedy, said Sergeant Matt Sutter.
For their part, Disneyland officials limited themselves to telling the American media that a visitor was taken to the hospital on Monday.
Last September, a 32-year-old man died after losing consciousness on the Stardust Racers roller coaster at Universal Orlando, which opened in May.
