Donald Trump, 79, said this Thursday, October 9, that he felt “in great shape” on the eve of undergoing a medical examination, the second since his return to the White House in January.
Referring to his planned trip on Friday to the Walter Reed military hospital near Washington, the US president declared: “I will meet with the military and have a kind of semi-annual medical examination.”
The White House had already announced a “routine annual medical examination” on Wednesday, following the one already carried out in April by the Republican leader and during which his doctor considered him to be in excellent health.
“Very good physically” and “mentally”
“I think I’m in very good shape, I’ll keep you informed. But I don’t have any difficulties so far,” he continued, in response to a question asked while receiving Finnish President Alexander Stubb in the Oval Office.
“I feel very good physically. I feel very good mentally,” he said.
Donald Trump, the oldest president to take the oath of office in the United States, does not escape questions and speculation about his health, although they are far from reaching the intensity of those asked about his Democratic predecessor Joe Biden.
The billionaire was seen with bruises on his right hand. Recent photos show him with a thick layer of makeup there.
The White House said in July that the bruises were due to “frequent handshakes” and that he took aspirin as a standard cardiovascular treatment.
The American executive also revealed that Donald Trump suffered from chronic venous insufficiency, a benign and generalized disease, which is manifested in his particular case by swelling in the ankles.
