Between Tehran and Washington, relations remain slow. The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, said on Saturday that negotiating with the United States would not end the unrest that has been rocking the country for two months, because Washington will always demand more.
The Iranian authorities continue to denounce the protests unleashed on September 16 over the death of Mahsa Amini, who was detained by the vice squad for violating the country’s strict dress code. And consider that these are “riots” encouraged by the West, in particular by the United States.
“The problem is not four rioters on the street, even if every rioter, every terrorist must be punished… The battlefield is much bigger. The main enemy is global arrogance,” Ali Khamenei said, referring to to Washington and its allies
Resentment towards the United States
The top figure of the Iranian state made this statement, broadcast on state television, when he received a delegation of young paramilitaries in Tehran on Saturday, on the occasion of the Bassidji week. This militia is in charge of the country’s internal security, a moral police rightly criticized by the Iranians since the beginning of the demonstrations.
“Certains nous disent dans les journaux or sur internet qu’il suffit pour mettre fin aux troubles, comencés il ya quelques semaines, de résoudre votre probleme avec l’Amérique et d’écouter la voix de la nation”, at- he launches.
“How do we solve the problem with the United States? Will the problem be solved if we sit down and negotiate and get a commitment from the United States?” he later asked.
“No. The negotiation is not going to solve anything. Our problem with the United States can only be solved by accepting to be rescued by this country,” he asserted.
According to Ali Khamenei, the United States demands, in order to end hostilities, that Iran abandon its nuclear program, change the Constitution, limit its influence within its borders and shut down its defense industries. “No Iranian can accept such conditions,” he stressed.
El Bassidji also supported by the president
Iran’s ayatollah also lashed out at those who say you have to “listen to the voice of the nation.” “The great voice of the nation resounded on November 4 (at pro-government rallies), or during the funeral of (General Qassem) Soleimani. This great crowd was the voice of the Iranian nation,” he said, hammered.
As a reminder, this Iranian general was killed in Baghdad in a US-led drone strike, at a period of heightened tension between Washington and Tehran.
On Saturday, on the occasion of the Bassidji week, President Ebrahim Raisi for his part visited a unit of these forces in Tehran, reported the Tasnim agency. “You had a brilliant performance in the fight against the rioters,” he said in front of the members of this unit.
In three days, Iran and the United States will meet on a completely different terrain, that of the World Cup. In Doha, the Iranian players did not lack courage to denounce the repression in their country. In their first game against England, the team decided not to sing the national anthem.
However, while staying in Iran, another Iranian footballer was arrested by the regime on Thursday for “propaganda”, just after a training session for Foolad Khouzistab FC.
