Emmanuel Macron in retreat, enough to surprise the American president. As Donald Trump closed the peace summit in Gaza this Monday, October 13, the billionaire thanked the numerous heads of state present in Egypt for this historic day.
Arriving on behalf of Emmanuel Macron, the American president turned around, thinking he saw the French head of state behind him on the podium, before realizing that he had taken his place in the audience among the other heads of state.
“I would have imagined that Emmanuel would be behind me… I find it hard to believe that you are keeping a low profile today!” he mocked softly.
A comment that made a good part of the Assembly laugh. “He’s my friend,” Donald Trump deflated, before continuing his wave of gratitude.
He “didn’t want to support” Donald Trump
According to those around the President of the Republic, Emmanuel Macron rejected the invitation to support Donald Trump. “I didn’t want to support a leader who talks. This is not what the French expect from their president,” his entourage confesses to BFMTV.
It must be said that some of the state representatives present were placed behind Donald Trump, in particular the British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and the President of the Council of Ministers of Italy Giorgia Meloni, while most of the other members of the summit sat in front of the American.
They also enjoyed a good entrance from Donald Trump. “I don’t know why they chose to be behind me, but they are there. They will all be very famous tomorrow,” he joked.
According to our information, other leaders also rejected the invitation to support the American president, including Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Jordanian King Abdullah II, and Bahraini King Hamad II.
