The Civil Defense in the Gaza Strip, which operates under the authority of Hamas, claimed on Saturday to have recovered the remains of nine Palestinians killed, it said, the day before in Israeli fire on a bus.
“In coordination with the Red Cross office, Civil Defense teams were able to recover nine martyrs after the Israeli occupation yesterday attacked a bus transporting displaced people to the east of the Zeitoun neighborhood” in Gaza City, Civil Defense spokesman Mahmoud Bassal told AFP.
The Israeli army said in a statement that it had “identified” a “suspicious vehicle crossing the yellow line”, referring to the line of withdrawal of Israeli forces within the Gaza Strip agreed upon within the framework of the ceasefire. After warning shots, the soldiers “opened fire to eliminate the threat” and “in accordance with the agreement.”
