At least 22 people were injured this Thursday, five of them seriously, after a car hit a group of recruits during a training exercise in the town of Whittier, California, United States.
The 22-year-old driver was arrested after driving the vehicle the wrong way in the early hours of the morning, crashing into the group and only stopping when it collided with a pole, according to Los Angeles County Fire Department Sheila Kelliher.

According to the Los Angeles Times, police sources said the driver was taken to the hospital with injuries.
California authorities are starting proceedings to determine whether the driver was under the influence of drugs, although drunkenness was initially ruled out.
California Highway Patrol deputy chief Charlie Sampson said about 75 recruits did the training exercise, grouped into four columns as the vehicle approached at high speed.
