Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on Sunday, October 26, the successful final test of the Russian nuclear-powered Bourevestnik cruise missile, praising this “unique” weapon with a range of up to 14,000 kilometers.
“The decisive tests have already been completed,” declared Vladimir Putin, in a video released by the Kremlin, during a meeting with military officials, ordering to begin “preparing the infrastructure to put this weapon into service in the armed forces” of Russia.
“It is a unique creation that no one in the world has,” said the Kremlin master, according to whom the Bourevestnik (storm bird in Russian) has an “unlimited range.”
During the last test, on October 21, the Bourevestnik missile was in the air for “about 15 hours”, traveling more than 14,000 kilometers, said the head of the Russian General Staff, Valéri Gerassimov, adding that “this is not a limit” for this weapon.
“The technical characteristics of the Bourevestnik allow it to be used with guaranteed accuracy against highly protected sites located at any distance,” he said.
Vladimir Putin announced in 2018 the development by the Russian army of these missiles, capable of surpassing almost all interception systems.
