A small plane carrying 11 people crashed in Kenya on Tuesday, October 28, killing all passengers on board, eight Hungarians and two Germans, as well as the plane’s Kenyan captain, airline Mombasa Air Safari Limited reported.
“Unfortunately there are no survivors,” lamented John Cleave, head of this company, in a press release.
The plane had taken off from the tourist town of Diani and was heading to the Masai Mara park when it crashed around 5:30 a.m. (3:30 a.m. Paris time), according to the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA).
“There are no survivors”
The head of Mombasa Air Safari confirmed the crash of “one of (their) planes.” “Unfortunately, there are no survivors,” John Cleave said in a statement, citing preliminary information, adding that an emergency response team had been mobilized.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with all those affected by this tragic event,” he added.
“Government agencies are already on scene to determine the cause of the accident and its impact,” the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority announced on X.
Small plane accidents are common in this East African country. In August, a small plane belonging to the medical NGO Amref crashed in the suburbs of the capital, Nairobi, killing six people and injuring two.
