Donald Trump said this Wednesday, October 29, that he was “not authorized” to run again in an election to win a third term as president of the United States.
“I’m at my highest point in the polls, and you know, from what I’ve read, I don’t think I can run, so we’ll see what happens… It’s a shame,” the American leader said aboard his Air Force One plane, bound for South Korea.
The 22nd Amendment to the United States Constitution, adopted in 1947, states that “no person shall be elected to the office of President more than twice.”
“Trump 2028”
Donald Trump, already president from 2017 to 2021, and who began a second term on January 20, often mentions, without openly rejecting them, the calls of his supporters to serve a third term.
He also repeatedly displayed red caps with the inscription “Trump 2028,” the year of the next presidential election.
One of the popular hypotheses in the Trumpist circle would be that the 79-year-old billionaire would run for vice president within three years, and that the current vice president, JD Vance, would be a candidate for president. But Donald Trump ruled out this option on Monday.
