Prison for a mockery on social networks. Authorities in the US state of Tennessee dropped charges against Larry Bushart, a 61-year-old man, who was jailed for more than a month for posting a message on Facebook mocking the murder of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, the AP news agency reports.
The arrest of the sexagenarian, released from prison this Wednesday, October 29, provoked the anger of many people who denounced an attack on freedom of expression.
A hijacked image of Trump
In his post, Larry Bushart uses an image of Donald Trump saying the words “we have to move on.” A phrase uttered by the American president after a shooting at an Iowa high school.
Following the murder of Charlie Kirk at an outdoor gathering on the campus of a Utah university, several people were fired from their jobs after making satirical comments about the event.
Defense Minister Pete Hegseth had even ordered their services to identify any member of the military who had mocked or taken delight in the murder of the herald of traditionalist, Christian America.
