Elon Musk asks Tim Cook for an explanation for ending Apple’s advertising on Twitter

Billionaire Elon Musk asked Apple CEO Tim Cook on Monday for an explanation of why the company “has stopped almost all advertising on Twitter.”

The tycoon and owner of the social networking company started a message campaign directed at Apple on his account, in which he states that “Apple threatened to freeze Twitter from its App Store (application service for its phones), without giving reasons.” .

Without having received any response from Tim Cook, he advanced with another in which he accuses Apple of “imposing a 30% secret fee for each product purchased through its App Store.”

In a third message, he suggests that Apple “should publish all the acts of censorship that it has carried out that harm its users.”

But, so far, the Twitter application works normally on Apple iPhones, he confirmed to EFE.

If Apple’s departure from Twitter advertisers is confirmed, it would be a new blow for the social networking company that, after the arrival of Musk, lost a good part of its advertising revenue. Public radio network NpR estimates that half of the major advertisers have left, spending $750 million this year alone.

At stake is the fear of advertisers in the face of the uncertain course of Twitter in relation to content, which manifests itself in decisions as controversial as the reestablishment of Donald Trump’s account, suspended after his followers’ attack on the Capitol.
