In a statement sent to the London Stock Exchange, the ‘low cost’ airline indicated that annual losses before taxes were 208 million pounds (239 million euros), compared to 1,036 million pounds (1,191 million euros). in the same period.

Total profit for the year amounted to 5,769 million pounds (6,634 million euros), 295% more than the previous year, while operating losses amounted to 27 million pounds (31 million euros), compared to 910 million pounds (1,046 million euros) in the previous year. same period last year.

As of September 30, net assets amounted to 2,533 million pounds sterling (2,912 million euros), while net debt amounted to 670 million pounds sterling (770 million euros).

According to EasyJet, the company has had a significant number of ‘slots’ (takeoff and landing), which has generated good performance, while revenue has been good in the EasyJet Holidays area, obtaining 38 million pounds (43 millions of euros). of earnings before taxes.

The company’s chief executive, Johan Lundgren, said EasyJet rebounded this summer and posted strong revenue in the fourth quarter of the year (July-September).

“EasyJet performs well in tough times” despite a “high cost” environment, he said, adding that the airline is well positioned to turn a profit.

The company acknowledges, in a statement, that it has had to face difficult situations this year due to the omicron variant of covid-19, the impact of the Russian invasion of Ukraine and operational challenges since there was a return in demand after the uprising of restrictions imposed by the pandemic. .

In 2022, the company transported 69.7 million passengers, an increase of 242% over the previous year, while the occupancy rate was 85.5%, compared to 72.5% the previous year.

The airline also said that this fiscal year it had a capacity of 81.5 million seats and that as of September 30 it had 320 aircraft.
