“We are holding on and, above all, we are not allowing the enemy to realize his intentions,” Volodymyr Zelensky tried to reassure him on Tuesday during his daily video address.
But the Ukrainian president admitted that the situation at the front was difficult, according to him, the Russian army was trying to advance into Donbass and the Kharkiv region in eastern Ukraine.
“Despite extremely heavy losses, the occupiers are still trying to advance into the Donetsk region, to establish themselves in the Luhansk region, to penetrate the Kharkiv region,” he said.
Volodymyr Zelensky added that the Russians were preparing “something in the south.” According to him, the Russian army is far from its objective of capturing the Donetsk region “in spring, summer, autumn” and that “winter is starting this week”, a season that could be decisive in this conflict of more than nine months.
