Woman is suing Heinz for cooking macaroni and cheese for more than 3.5 minutes

A woman from the US state of Florida has sued the multinational Kraft Heinz for $5 million, arguing that the preparation time of the famous macaroni and cheese takes longer than advertised on the package.

Amanda Ramírez therefore considers herself to be the victim of misleading information, which justifies the lawsuit in a federal court in Florida, in which she opposes the multinational giant who claims that the time she spent cooking the Velveeta paste was more than 3 .5 minutes in the manual, according to the WPLG Local 10 channel.

“We are aware of this frivolous action and will vigorously defend the allegations.”a Kraft Heinz Foods Company spokesperson told CNN Monday.

Attorneys for the plaintiff argue that the company sells the product at “a substantially high price” while using the “misleading” “ready in three and a half minutes” information in the instructions for use.

Ramírez says the package label should account for the extra prep needed before and after cooking the product in the microwave for 3.5 minutes.

This includes, depending on the operation, opening the package, sachet of cheese sauce, adding water or milk and stirring before and after cooking to thicken the pasta with cheese.
