Knife attacks in Canada result in 10 deaths. There could be drugs behind the stabbings

Ten people died and several were injured after being stabbed at two remote locations in Canada on Sunday. Police launched a search in three counties for the two suspects already identified as possible perpetrators of the attacks – identified as Damien Sanderson (31 years old) and Myles Sanderson (30 years old).

“We found 10 dead individuals at 13 sites in the James Smith Cree Nation and Weldon community, Saskatchewan,” Rhonda Blackmore, the commissioner of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, added that “several other victims were injured, 15 of whom were transported to different hospitals”.

Police work was complicated by the arrival of thousands of supporters to the Saskatchewan capital for the annual Labor Day game between two Canadian soccer teams, the Saskatchewan Roughriders and the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

That’s why the Regina police asked for additional security reinforcements throughout the city, including in the area around the Mosaic Stadium. [local da partida]. Also because the Saskatchewan Health Authority, quoted by the Associated Press, said the number of victims could increase as several people made their way to the hospital on their own.

Despite the same surname, the police had not yet been able to determine the degree of kinship between the suspects. The motives behind the attacks are also not yet known, so police called on all residents of Saskatchewan to “stay vigilant”.

The stabbing suspects were first spotted in Regina, the capital of Saskatchewan, but alerts and searches have expanded to neighboring provinces of Manitoba and Alberta, a vast region half the size of Europe.
